The close of Lesson 4
Are we marching to the beat of our own drum? Or are we marching to the beat of a different drum? A drum from Heaven!
“Rejoice that we are out of step with this world!”
“I hear the clarion call from our saviour today — it is time to live as a King’s Kid!”
From Lesson 1 · Matthew 5:3–12
Eight declarations of blessing.
“The sermon begins with a preamble known as ‘The Beatitudes’ (5:3-12), eight declarations or pronouncements of blessing…”
“The word ‘beatitude’ comes from the Latin word beatus, meaning ‘happy’ or ‘blessed.’ The Greek word is makarios. The word captures the idea of those who are the fortunate and blessed recipients of God’s grace and favor.”

The cadence · Matthew 5:3–10 KJV
Blessed, on every count.
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.
“Man must see himself poor, needy, destitute and in need of help.”
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
“The Godly reaction to poverty of spirit: mourning.”
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
“It’s having inner strength under control!”
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
“Happy is the man who hungers and thirsts for a right relationship with God!”
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
“Forgives, not holding onto hurts or grudges.”
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
“Jesus strikes to the center of man’s being, the heart.”
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
“Do we sow peace or strife?”
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
“Living a life that reflects these beatitudes and the righteousness of God is an invitation to persecution.”
